Dog Health Questions: Colitis in Mini Schnauzer
My friend’s Schnauzer has been diagnosed with colitis, and was put on Tylan. At first, it seemed to work alright, but for the past several months, diarrhea returned, throwing up and not eating. Not as severe as it was before put on medication, but nonetheless very worrying. Has anyone experienced with Tylan?

Is there something else that would be better?
Do you know what she is feeding this dog? High fiber, high grain, high starch diets are the enemy of a carnivore’s short digestive tract and processed foods will only continue to cause inflammation,
irritation and spasming. So an easy to digest raw diet, a good animal
based digestive enzyme, probiotics and l-glutamine to help heal the
intestinal muscle would be in order.
Glutamine, and the closely-related compound glutamate, are two amino acids that are critical to human health. In humans, animals, and plants, glutamine and glutamate are transformed into each other as part of numerous physiological processes.

Where did you get your Mini Schnauzer? He looks an AWFUL lot like mine, who was just diagnosed with IBD (inflammatory bowel disease) after several recurring bouts of vomiting and diarrhea. Our guy is now starting a daily metronitizol regimen and has been put on prescription Z/D food (I’m not thrilled about either thing, but so far so good).
I recently adopted a schnauzerd from the dog pound. He was very sick and also had a sensitive stomach. Science diet is great! And I mix it with pedigree can food. He loves it and you would never guess it was the same dog!
I recomend it so much I even put my cat on it! I started given her the dry as well and now give her a little bit of a can of science diet in the morning and night. Helped with the hairballs too.
