Suggestions for Dog Behavior Issues – Viciousness

IdeaMan21 | March 31st, 2009

A couple of things come to mind right off the bat with aggression where there has been none in the past.

1. Has the dog been neutered? or is he intact? – hormones could be responsible for some aggressiveness – not always though.

2. A health check with complete thyroid panel being done – I have had a dog in the past become aggressive and when I had a thyroid panel done his was the lowest level I have ever encountered. Once medication was started he returned to his usual sweet natural self. Mind you this aggression was only directed towards my other male – never directed at a human.

3. vaccine damage – a possibility

4. I’ve heard of dogs with brain tumors becoming aggressive. This is certainly not a safe situation for anyone – I’d be tempted to muzzle the dog until a complete health exam can be done – if the family is prepared to go this route. Human aggression can be a death sentence for a dog. It would be in my house since there have been multiple attacks.

Good luck with this situation
